Volunteering at the Medium Festival of Photography is a rewarding experience that allows you to connect with professionals and peers from across the field of fine art photography. We rely on a team of volunteers every year to help make the Medium Festival of Photography a success.
We ask our volunteers to make a minimum commitment of two 4-hour shifts during the Festival dates of Oct. 20-23, 2016. Volunteers are given access to Festival lectures and events before and after their shift, with opportunities to experience the Festival as well as behind the scenes. If you’ve not attended the Festival we recommend looking at our 2016 event line up to learn more about the event and daily schedule.

Volunteer Leads offer an opportunity to assist with some of the more crucial aspects of Festival including check-in and guest services. We are looking for individuals who can take on added responsibility or possibly commit to additional time commitments. Volunteer leads are individuals that our Festival staff can count on to support a wide range of Festival activities and make decisions when needed.

Our Eye to Eye Portfolio Reviews are a high energy, two day event drawing photographers from across the country and around the world. Volunteers will assist with the smooth flow of attendees in and out of the review room, help monitor time, and support communications with participating photographers. This is an important position that requires a leadership attitude, timeliness, and great communication skills.

Our FLASH! Pop-Up Shop is a central part of the Festival’s weekend activities and is open to the public. The Pop-Up Shop is shared with Festival sponsors and serves as a secondary location for ticket sales and general information.
The ideal Pop-Up Shop Assistant is:
Event photographers help us record moments and events that make the Festival an exceptional experience for our guests. Our volunteer photographers are invited to interact with our guest speakers, visiting photographers, and Festival attendees to record the essence of the event.
The ideal Event Photographer is:
We have a series of short movies planned to capture the spirit of our Festival and are looking for individuals who can assist with video capture. Volunteers with the Video Team should have a working knowledge of creating original video content and working with a planned set of content goals. We are specifically looking for people who can help us with Adobe After Effects post production.
Our Publisher’s Showcase highlights new titles in photography and offers Festival attendees an opportunity to browse photo books from a diverse range of publishers. Publisher’s Showcase Volunteers should love books and enjoy the opportunity to share that passion with others.
Exhibition Volunteers help make our annual juried exhibition a success. We’re looking for assistance with the installation and organization of the exhibition, and can offer additional opportunities for gallery assistants to staff the gallery during the exhibition dates of Oct. 22 – Nov. 12.
