On Friday, Oct. 23 we kick off the Present Tense Lecture Series with our 2015 Keynote Lecturer, Jim Goldberg. Join us at 7pm for an inspiring evening with one of the most creative and innovative photographers of our time. Goldberg’s work combines text, photography, drawings, and found objects as tools for storytelling and as a means to examine class, power, happiness and social justice. His seminal work Rich and Poor was reprinted by Steidl in 2014 and helped define a career that has included a Guggenheim Fellowship, three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships in Photography, the Henri Cartier-Bresson Award, among many others.
Jim Goldberg is represented by Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York, and is a member of Magnum Photos. His forthcoming titles including The Last Son (Super Labo, 2016) and Ruby Every Fall (Nazraeli, 2016).
The 2015 Keynote Lecture takes place at the Lafayette Hotel in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood. Immediately following the Keynote Lecture we will host a reception for all of our 2015 lecturing artists. Tickets to the Keynote lecture are included with all Festival and VIP passes and can be purchased individually through midnight Oct. 18. Tickets will be available at the Lafayette Hotel on Friday Oct. 23 from 9am – 7pm.
