The Eye to Eye Portfolio Reviews take place in San Diego on Oct. 26-27, 2017, offering an opportunity for photographers to receive exposure and feedback about their work from influential gallery directors, curators, and industry professionals. The reviews represent an excellent opportunity to begin new relationships in the field, to develop important peer networks, and help gain valuable exposure for your work. Participants in the Eye to Eye Portfolio Reviews consistently meet with their highest ranked reviewers. In 2016, participating photographers at Medium received 90-100% of their highest ranked review requests. Discover more about our 2016 Portfolio Review and participating photographers here.
Registration for the 2017 Eye to Eye Portfolio Reviews is open for 48 hours ONLY, beginning at 9:00am Pacific Time on March 30-31, 2017. The reviews are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and typically fill before the 48 hour period is complete. The 2017 portfolio reviews are limited to 65 photographers and will form a waiting list after registration has filled. A list of participating reviewers will be updated on our portfolio reviewer page in Spring 2017 . Individual reviewer selections sent to participating photographers in summer 2017. Registration takes place on our website and will be posted beginning March 30 at 9:00am.
There are two types of portfolio review passes available: the Eye to Eye Portfolio Review pass (portfolio reviews only—$450) and the Big Pass (admission to Keynote Lecture, VIP reception, all festival lectures and events with VIP privileges—$595). Payment is due at the time of registration using PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to register (they also accept credit cards and debit cards). Refunds for portfolio review registration are available until July 1, 2017, minus a $100 administrative fee. We do not offer refunds after July 1 unless we are able to fill your space with another photographer on the waiting list.
Participants in the portfolio reviews receive a minimum of eight 20-minute reviews with individual reviewers on Oct. 26-27, 2017. Each meeting offers photographers an opportunity to meet individually with curators, photo editors, commercial reps, and galleries to share your work and begin new relationships. Photographers are advised to bring a selection of approximately 20 prints representing a tightly edited body of work. Participants in the Eye to Eye Portfolio Reviews gain valuable exposure to industry leaders, and often result in individual photographs being collected, exhibited or published. Individual appointments will be scheduled in September 2017 once the review registration has closed.
As part of the 2017 Medium Festival of Photography we will host an open portfolio walk on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 7-10pm. This event allows participating portfolio review photographers to share their work with the public as well as other reviewers who you may not meet with during the daily sessions. The event marks a chance to share work with a wide audience, meet collectors, view portfolios from other photographers participating in the Eye to Eye Portfolio Reviews, and take part in a dynamic, community event in San Diego.
A list of confirmed reviewers for 2017 will be posted in Spring 2017. We will have 25 participating reviewers representing museums, galleries, and publishers from across the United States.
